A major issue within the country is that their shelters aren't very stable. The majority of people are poor, and they live in tiny mud huts that are located within compounds outside of citites. Generally, only the very rich can afford an apartment or house. Even so, luxuries like houses and apartments are only located inside of cities. Compared to other areas in Africa, Ivory Coast has a well developed economy. Their main exports include cocoa, rice, yams, pineapple, corn, cotton, rubber, and tobacco. Because their main exports are grown from the ground, a large percentage of their population are farmers. However, even farmers don't make much money, and so the GNP in Ivory Coast is only about $630.
